Solid wood is easy to live with. A few habits keep a piece looking the way it did the day it arrived.
Everyday
- Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry straight away. No sprays, polishes or silicone products.
- Use coasters and trivets. Heat and standing water are the only things that mark an oiled finish.
- Keep the piece out of direct sun where you can; every tone deepens slightly over the first year.
Humidity
Wood moves with the seasons. Keep indoor humidity between 35% and 55% and small seasonal checks in a live edge are normal; they close again on their own.
Every 6–12 months
Apply a thin coat of the finishing oil from the care kit shipped with your piece, leave it 20 minutes, then buff off. Scratches sand out with 320-grit paper before oiling.
Outdoor pieces
Outdoor benches and tables are oiled hardwood. Re-oil twice a year and cover or store them over winter.
